Seattle Robotics Society meeting - Robotics Studio, R2D2, and Odd car.
On Saturday I attended the Seattle Robotics Society meeting - this months meeting had Joseph Fernando (photo below), an Architect in the Robotics Studio team giving an overview of Microsoft Robotics Studio, and the CCR/DSS programming model.
Other items of interest at the meeting were...
Parked just outside of Renton Technical College (where the Seattle Robotics Society meet) was this strange looking vehicle - Click the image, go to the larger sized photo on Flickr and check out why this is odd...
Also at the meeting was a partially built R2D2 - I didn't get the names of the people working on this, but it's a cool project, the frame is wooden with Aluminium dome and body work - the final working R2 could cost ~ $5000!

Wow... took me a few seconds to realize what was odd about the car :) Does it have two engines as well?Anonymous

it looked like it had two steering wheels, I didn't get close enough to find out if it had two engines. Take a look at the wheels, it looks like it's posible to get a pretty tight turning circle on the vehicle!

Either that or you could drive it sideways. Now that would be a nice paralell-parking feature :)
