MEDC 2007 Las Vegas: Sumo Robotics Competition - What you need to know...
This years MEDC Sumo Robotics competition is going to be based around Microsoft Robotics Studio 1.5 - the hardware is going to be based on the iRobot Create chasis and uses an ICOP eBox 2300 running Windows Embedded CE 6.0 as the embedded component of the robot.
You can get started developing and testing your Robotics code today by downloading the Microsoft Robotics Studio 1.5 CTP and the Sumo Robotics Simulator.
Here's the important information:
To take part in the MEDC 2007 Sumo Robotics competition you need to be at the MEDC registration area on Monday April 30th at 8:00am – during the day your code will be run in a virtual competition, the top 40 competitors will then move onto porting their code to run on the physical robotics hardware.
The Microsoft Robotics Studio team have a support forum for you to ask questions about developing using Robotics Studio.
Let me know if you have any questions...

Do we need to be there AT 8:00 am to register, or just sometime before 7:30pm that evening? My flight won't be getting in until much later that day.Anonymous

If thats the case, then that is disappointing. I would like to participate in the sumo competition, but won't be arriving until Monday afternoon. This would have been useful to know a month or so ago, when people were making travel arrangementsAnonymous

Why are you just telling us NOW that we have to be at registration at 8am on Monday in order to be in the sumobot competition? We registered months ago, that information should have been made known back then when we made our flight plans. This is unacceptable. I would appreciate this requirement being changed to Monday evening or Tuesday morning. I am extremely disappointed. This was obviously an after thought, and not planned or planned poorly.Anonymous

Yesterday is the first time i have seen anything about needing to be there in the morning to register. The last information that i saw, which seems to have been taken down now, is as follows: The Pre Conference virtual simulation is available in the Registration area by sign up on Monday, April 30th from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The top forty competitors will advance to the finals and are invited to a porting workshop beginning at 8:30 PM. A lab testing environment and help desk will be located within the Hands On Labs Room.Anonymous
