Got Vista ? Got Windows Mobile ? - Get Windows Mobile Device Center

Windows Mobile Device CenterIf you've been using Windows Mobile devices for a while you are probably used to Active Sync, the utility that's used to sync content from your desktop PC to your mobile device - if you have installed Vista or have just got a new PC running Vista then you are probably wondering where Active Sync is, or which version of Active Sync you need to run on Vista.

For Windows Vista you need a new utility called Windows Mobile Device Center 6 for Windows Vista

WMDC supports Windows Mobile 2003 and above and is only supported on Windows Vista - if you are running Windows XP then you will need to use Active Sync 4.2.

So, maybe a mundane question, but why 6?  I thought it was only up to Beta 3, and ActiveSync is 4.2.  Where were the other five WMDC versions?

Windows Vista has a version number of 6.0, so Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista) also has a version number of 6.0.
