Questions for the Smart Client Software Factory Community
Right now, as a lot of you know, the Client Program team and I are working on an update to the Smart Client Software Factory. In working on this update, we have been trying to listen to the community for what will be in the update.
Here is the current Roadmap, straight from the SCSF community page:
Roadmap for Smart Client Guidance
The next project in our pipeline is an update on the Smart Client Factory with release date in April approximately.
This update will include:
- Enhanced guidance packages
- Guidance Packages to generate Visual Basic 2005 code
- Several bug fixes
- Support for Workflow Foundation
- Support & Guidance for Windows Presentation Foundation interoperability
New Work Items
We have questions about the first two bullets, which fall into the heading Enhancing the Guidance Package (in VB and C#) . I've opened up two items in Issue Tracker on the SCSF CodePlex community site:
Please go vote, comment, and make your voices heard on these new topics.
But there are already work items out there...
As far as the other items already opened in Issue Tracker, they fall into three groups (that I see):
- Lots of votes. There are two items with 25+ votes
- A few votes. There are a few items with more than one vote
- Only one vote. That says it all
What are we are planning on doing for these open items? For the Lots of Votes items, we have features that are in the works to cover these items. For obvious bugs (that we can reproduce), we will triage these with the other bugs we find in development, and fix as appropriate. For everything else, if only a few people want something, it night not be worth it for us to spend time on a feature only one person will use.
Please go vote, comment, and make your voices heard.
We are listening.
