WMDC is available for Vista
There you go, now we're alright. We've just released the Windows Mobile Device Center for x86 and x64 today (officially, although the download files were published on the servers yesterday). Go ahead to the official WMDC site to download the updates.
By this evening, the WMDC option will appear in Windows Update if you cradle your device and manually start Windows Update on your Vista machine.
I know a few friends who are dying for this update. Told ya it wouldn't take them long. :)

Thomas. Why can't you sync? it should be able to sync automatically with Outlook. What PIM application are you using on your Vista machine?Anonymous

On my private PC I only use the PIM applications that come with vista (calendar, contacts, windows mail). And I don't want to install outlook 2002, that came with my mobiles (MDA Pro, MDA Compact 2).Anonymous

Hi, I'm having the same issue as Thomas. Vista comes with a calander app built in (windows calander) but I can't Sync this with my pocket PC and I don't want to run outlook when I have all the functionality I need (except sync) with Vista. Is there something I need to do to get the windows calander to sync with my PPC. Under share there is a sync but it is greyed out?Anonymous

Sorry, but there is no way to synchronize your Vista Calendar with your windows mobile device at this time. Currently Windows Mobile only support synchronization with outlook and exchange. This is currently being considered for future releases.Anonymous

For future releases: If you are afraid that this feature would lead to an reduced sale of outlook/exchange server, for me it be enough if it would be possible to synchronize my contacts. A Mail/Calendar sync would be nice, but not so important... ;)Anonymous

It is so disappointing I can't sync Vista Contacts and Vista Calendar with my phone. I do not like using Outlook and will just do without the functionality as opposed to using Outlook. When will this update happen?Anonymous

Here we are late 2008 and Vista Calendar will not sync with Win Mobile. Typical example of lack of support by MS. I will never, never, never, ---- purchase another device that depends on MS software.Anonymous
