PDC Rescheduled!
Just got word that PDC 2007 will be rescheduled. BOO HOOO. I was really looking forward to attending this year's PDC since we didn't have one last year. The reason for rescheduling it is because PDC, as most of you would know, is focused on FUTURE technologies by Microsoft and by this fall most of the technologies will be close to shipping, so there isn't much point in running one. The team hasn't finalized on the date yet but should be announcing it within a few months once the plans have been ironed out.
In the meantime, if you need to fulfill your conference addiction, you can checkout our latest goodies like Silverlight, SQL Server "Katmai" and Visual Studio "Orcas" at these other events:
VSLive! in New York – September 16-19, 2007
VSLive! in Las Vegas – October 16-19, 2007
DevConnections in Las Vegas – November 5-8, 2007
TechEd Developer in Barcelona, Spain – November 5-9, 2007

It's really a shame that customers will miss out on all the learning that happens at a PDC show. The vast majority of those who attend (while they like the bling of the new stuff) also spend hours and hours learning about the products they are actually using now. Most of them won't be rolling out any of the new tools for 18-24 months, but will still have pain points and issues with the products they use today. By offering presentations, expert chats, and (most importantly) hands-on training right on the show floor -- customers walk away better able to implement MS solutions and with a much higher opinion of MS technologies. Everyone internally is focused on the new stuff, and it's easy to forget that people are struggling with existing technology today. And tomorrow. And next week. Bling is fun. Being productive today is critical.
