Migration from Configuration Manager 2007 to SC2012 Configuration Manager RTM

   Hi All :

   Because of the design changes that were introduced in Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, you cannot upgrade an existing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. However, you can maintain your existing investment when you migrate to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager and use the built-in functionally within System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.

   When you migrate from Configuration Manager 2007 to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, you can access data from the site databases that you identify in the Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure and then transfer this data to the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager hierarchy. Migration does not modify the data in the Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchy, but instead discovers the data and stores a copy of it in the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager database. You can migrate some or all of the supported data from a Configuration Manager 2007 site to a System Center 2012 Configuration Manager site. You can also migrate the data from a single Configuration Manager 2007 site to several different System Center 2012 Configuration Manager sites, or you can move data from multiple Configuration Manager 2007 sites to a single System Center 2012 Configuration Manager site.

Users are the focus of management tasks in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. For example, you can distribute software to a user even if you do not know the device name for that user. Additionally, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager gives users much more control over what software is installed on their devices and when it is installed.

Hierarchy simplification

The new central administration site type in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, as well as changes to the behavior of primary and secondary sites let you build a simpler site hierarchy that uses less network bandwidth and requires fewer servers.

Role-based administration

This central security model in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager offers hierarchy-wide security and management that corresponds to your administrative and business requirements.

    Hi Zhang Yang: 如果你已经确认迁移成功，则可以按照正常步骤卸载CM07.但之前还是需要确认迁移时的错误到底是什么？

    Hi Justin 我想请问一下，按照文档做了以后，在警报中提示迁移失败，但CM07集合内的计算机已经在CM12里面有了，这算成功了？还是算失败了？报警没有更多可以查看的内容，如果成功迁移后，我是否就可以把CM07卸载掉了？ 谢谢

    Hi Justin 是这样，我在cm12中可以看到我在cm07上的计算机，这个确认无误，已经迁移过来了，但迁移完后，我看到警报中(就是钟的那个图标)里面写着迁移失败，我在想有没有可能因为我在迁移过程中选择了那些不被cm12支持的内容，导致不支持的没有迁移，所以报警？ 如果可以的话，我们是否可以MSN沟通一下？ MSN：zhangyang0611@hotmail.com 谢谢

    1. I need one clarification. can we run sccm 2012 and sccm 2007 parallel and slowly we can migrate all data based on need?

    Hi Jegar:
    要看一下Log，有的时候如果不是完全迁移，也会出现错误。因此要根据错误提示查阅迁移Log就可以知道哪些没有迁移成功。
