https://del.icio.us gets funding (at last!)

Congrats to Joshua Schachter for (finally :-)) announcing that he’s taken the money and will now work full-time on https://del.icio.us, his pioneering social bookmarking/folksonomy/community tagging service. Whatever you want to call it, delicious changes how you use the web. I’d been trying to talk Joshua into coming to Microsoft, maybe to do social-computing research with Lili Cheng, or just cool MSN Spaces stuff with Mike Torres, but it didn’t work out.

I think that’s our loss, and I know that some other major internet companies will also be sad that Joshua turned down their offers, but I’m looking forward to seeing what he invents next. His hacking output is phenomenal (delicious was just his hobby!), and I’m sure there’ll be even more cool things to come.

    I’ve been rambling on in the past two days about Yahoo vs. Google. What does this have to do with startups and venture capital? Everything. These two companies, along with IAC and MSN, are likely acquirers of the new breed...
