Tip: reverse the keyboard on your Surface when you carry it

Nothing here directly related to OneNote, but this helped many folks around here so I thought I would share.

One of the developers was nervous walking around with the keys from his Surface keyboard exposed:

When he carried the Surface like this, he was always worried that an inadvertent key press would cause something to happen in Windows. It won’t, since the keyboard gets disabled when you fold it to the back like this, but he still couldn't shake this feeling.

Then he noticed that the keyboard can be reversed and connected "backwards" like this:

The magnets that hold it in place work just fine like that and now when he folds the keyboard down to pick up the Surface the keys are against the back of the device rather than being pressed by his fingers. He is no longer nervous about carrying it around as a result.

A side benefit to this is that the cloth part of the keyboard is now exposed to your hand, and at least to me, that feels better when I walk around carrying the thing.

Finally, this is a Surface Pro I have in the photos, but using the RT keyboard. They mix and match just fine. Also, I (obviously) have a custom skin on my Surface - the same skin I use on all my devices, by the way.

This is a nice little tip to alleviate the concerns of people that don't want to be worried about exposed keys when they carry their Surfaces around. I hope it helps.

Questions, comments, concerns and criticisms always welcome,

John
