Some test planning is happening over the next few weeks

One of the major tasks our test team faces is creating test tools, automation and processes to ensure we are testing OneNote effectively.  Our next steps will be done over the next couple of weeks, and here is a broad summary of what we will do:
1. Define the work items for each of our tools.  We have tools that (for instance) gather logs from client machines.  We may need to improve these tools, change how the logs are gathered - keep in text format or put into SQL - or add to them in other ways.  For each of our areas, we will come up with a plan to make these improvements.
2. After we have all the plans, we will essentially have a large list of work items for each area.  We have 2 tasks at this point.  First will be to come up with an estimate for how much time would be needed to complete each item.  Second is to prioritize each item and separate the "nice to have" improvements from the "must have" items.
3. Then we come up with a budget of time to work on these items.  The time constraint here comes from needing to devote time to our other tasks - automation investigations, following existing processes, running existing tools, etc…  Couple that with other factors like vacation time will give us a nice budget.
4. Lastly, we will spend our budget on the highest priority items we can afford.

Nothing ground breaking here, and it can feel like this is a heavy weight process.  But it helps us avoid the "Robinson Crusoe" scenario and will pay off for months and years ahead.  The engineers around here are really excited about this and that is always nice to see.

Questions, comments, concerns and criticisms always welcome,
John

Good suggestions.  For #2, I usually select the image, then press right arrow and enter to insert blank lines below.  Doesn't work for new lines above, though.

Thanks for all that you do.  One request:  Text Wrapping around a picture or image would be very useful.

I'll pass this along to our designers.  Thanks!
