A stylus blew up
I've had (more than?) my fair share of hardware problems, but this one is new. One of the testers on the team had a stylus for his tablet blow apart on him:
It was actually kind of interesting. The little inductor was connected to the eraser end of the stylus and the eraser cap had completely broken off. It's pretty much dead at this point. He tried to reassemble it but it did no good. There's just not much more to do about it now. It was kind of interesting to see the components of a stylus. It is not just simple price of plastic. The little controller card controls controlled the eraser - I couldn't make out the switch, but the cap had triggered a little switch in there somehow.
Anyway, thought it may be interesting. I have no idea how hard it is going to be to get a replacement. I hope we don't have any more hardware failures.
Questions, comments, concerns and criticisms always welcome,
John

Do NOT throw that away! Grab an old pen and build your own Tablet Stylus like I did. In case you've got an soldering iron next to you, it is also possible to attach the buttons to the new Pen: img853.imageshack.us/.../imag0080o.jpg Works like a charm and is a lot more comfortable to write! That is awesome - it looks like a raygun or something. And yes, I have a soldering iron right here at work... If you have a step by step, please share!Anonymous
