IT Operations in the South Pole
Over at the IT Pro Australia blog Deeps has a post about the world's most isolated IT operation, and poses the question about server cooling not being an issue.
That reminded me of an article I read recently entitled "Microsoft to build datacentre in icy wastes" - apparently we are building a 10,000 server farm in Siberia.
Cheap/reliable electricity aside, maybe that's why we're building it in Siberia - what better way to save on power costs for cooling than to open a window or crack a door?
:)
