The Whitepaper for Configuring and Troubleshooting NIS in Forefront TMG 2010 is Now Available
A few weeks ago Microsoft released the much anticipated Forefront TMG 2010. One of the security technologies that have been integrated into this server is NIS – Network Inspection System. NIS helps protect users against network based attacks. It is backed up by the research and response of the world-class Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC).
In order to help administrators with planning the deployment of NIS, as well as monitoring and troubleshooting this technology, we have just recently released a whitepaper that addresses these topics. This comprehensive, over 60-pages long document, includes both technical background as well as step-by-step guidance along with many screenshots and diagrams. You will find there an overview of the technology and its components, detailed information on how to enable it and how to keep its signatures up to date, and how to configure its policy. The document also helps with troubleshooting several possible issues. Last but not least, we included a section about the research and response process by the MMPC.
The document is now available on the following TechNet page. The direct link to the document on the Microsoft Download Center is http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/4/0/F40887FD-648B-40E1-B79B-AAE43CEDCA4C/NIS%20in%20TMG%20Whitepaper.docx. We hope you will find this document helpful and it will help you know more about this new exciting technology.
