Nomination for World Wide Innovative Schools Program

 Dear Innovative School Leader,

Education leaders around the world are wondering how they can make learning more accessible and relevant in our fast-changing world. In response, Microsoft Partners in Learning has created the Innovative Schools Program with the goal of developing learning models and assets that any school can use to help students achieve their full potential.

The Partners in Learning Innovative Schools Program is a global community where schools with common interests can share their experiences and learn from one another.

There are three levels of participation in the Innovative Schools Program:

1.       Innovative Schools Global Community—open to everyone

2.       Innovative Schools Pathfinder Program—membership by application

3.       Innovative Schools Mentor Schools—by invitation

The Innovative Schools Global Community is open to everyone via the Partners in Learning Network and simply requires a Windows Live ID to access topics such as:

  • Monthly “Virtual University” training by leading education experts
  • Curriculum and assessment tools
  • Guidelines for capacity building

Application process to Pathfinder Program is now open

Institutions that are interested in being more involved with the Partners in Learning Innovative Schools Program can take the next step by applying for membership in the Pathfinder Program, a 12-month deep engagement that includes extensive mentoring and face-to-face interaction. Schools leaders who decide to take this step will undergo a rigorous application process focused on educational leadership and the roles of students, educators, curriculum, and technology. Applications are accepted from the beginning of April through the first week of August, and selections will be announced in September. Sixty schools will be accepted for the 2010-2011 program.

Please join the Partners in Learning Network Web site to learn more about Innovative Schools Global Community and the Pathfinder Program.

To help guide school leaders understand what is required for involvement in the program, the following Virtual University training sessions are being offered. The first session presents an overview of the Pathfinder Program and helps school leaders prepare for the application process.

The second Virtual University session - Envisioning helps in understanding what it means to take Innovation to scale by engaging the whole school community in a shared vision. This workshop provides concepts, tools and practical ideas to drive effective and sustainable change, drawing on the 6i process and the work of Professor Michael Fullan and Director Dan Buckley.
