Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 NOW RTM!!!!

Its a huge day for Microsoft as we made much awaited Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM today.!!!!

If you are following my blog, You have noticed we have discussed a lot about features and watched the developments in release of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Finally customers worldwide will be able to take computing into the next level with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

I am a Virtualization guy so as i am excited with new enhancements in Hyper V R2 in Server 2008 R2, I am equally excited about Windows 7 coming up in the market. I am big fan of Windows 7 and using it on my work and home PC since the pre beta days and its awesome.

I have seen Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 growing from better to the best and now i can say Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are without a doubt the best platform ever.

I speak to lots of Partners and customers and i cant even begin to explain how much they are excited about Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and of course Hyper V R2 with features like

  • Live Migration
  • Clustered Shared Volume
  • Core Parking
  • Virtual I/O
  • 64 Logical Processor Support
  • Dynamic Storage
  • Processor Compatibility mode for Live Migration
  • Support for SLES 11 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.2 and 5.3 for both x86 and x64.
  • RDS for VDI

And lots of Additional features with Server 2008 R2 like Branch Caching, Direct Access, Remote Desktop Services will add great value to the customer investments and reduce cost.

The next milestone is making Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 available to the general customers on Oct 22, 2009, though these will be made available to business customers little earlier in September for our Volume Licensing Customers.

And a great THANKS to all those who are running Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 BETA, RC and helping the team here with your feedback and reporting bugs.

And CONGRATULATIONS to WINDOWS Team here in Microsoft for such great work with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and exceeding all expectations in terms of sticking to milestone without compromising the product Quality.

If you have not joined the party yet.. go download the Windows 7 RC and Windows Server 2008 R2 RC still available. You can still use it till June 1st 2010.

    Well Ifty, It's been long time that you have bloged or let me say I came to your blog after a long time. nice to see a post. And I do agree with you that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Team have done an exceeding well job.
