Copy all highlighted text in your Word document

You probably already use the highlighter pen tool to mark up favorite phrases or passages needing work in your Microsoft Word documents. But did you know that you can quickly select and copy all of your highlighted text to a new document?

In Word 2010, click the small arrow next to the Find button on the Home tab and select Advanced Find:

Advanced Find

(If you're using Word 2007, just use Ctrl-F to get there.)

Now click the More button to access the Format button, where you can select Highlight:

Format: Highlight

Now click the Find In button and select Main Document:

Find In: Main Document

Your highlighted text is now selected. Click Close, use Ctrl -C to copy the selected parts of the document to your clipboard, and then Ctrl-N to create a new document. Paste with Ctrl-V and you have a new document with your highlighted text.

Is this the same principle as CTRL+A to mark everything in a document or on an internet site? By the way once you've selected everything you can copy and paste it also with clickto, a new word document will open and your text as well as the source will appear in it (very useful when you are doing research). To download clickto: http://www.clicktoapp.com

I use Avery/Word to make labels I put on coffee bags. Instead of copying/pasting one (1) label 20 or more times on a new sheet, is there a way to past the one label into all the blank areas on the same sheet?

Thank you this helped me a lot. If you could tell me though, is this possible in Adobe? Is there any way to select multiple bits of text in adobe or to highlight some and copy all highlights like in Word?

I remember in an older Word version you could 'drag' text to desktop to create a document with an odd extension, than drag it back. Is this possible in 2010 email: waterlubber@gmail.com
