Celebrating 35 years of INTERCAL

On May 26, 1972 Don Woods and Jim Lyon created the INTERCAL programming language.

What does this have to do with Windows Home Server?

Well first, Windows Home Server is written primarily in INTERCAL.*

But also because Jim Lyon (affectionately known as Jimbo) is a senior software development engineer on the team and the whole Windows Home Server computer backup capability was pretty much his doing.

We're also celebrating because the team kicked butt this week. We thought we'd have to work this long Memorial day weekend.  I challenged the team that if they got our bug count below a certain number by this evening we could all take the whole weekend off. Not only did the team meet the challenge, but exceeded the goal significantly!

*This is actually not true. But it would be funny if it were.
