In a world first, Microsoft has hosted a senior Australian police officer for six months at its Redmond campus.  Detective Superintendent Mick Kelsey from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) worked with various groups within the Corporation, undertaking an executive development opportunity and providing a law enforcement perspective on online safety and security.

The AFP and Microsoft are committed to partnerships in fighting the full range of technology enabled crime, including the distribution of malware, online child exploitation and other emerging online criminal activity, with Kelsey's time at Microsoft serving to enhance the already extensive efforts of both organisations in making the internet a safer and more secure environment.

Kelsey said of his experience at Microsoft, “It was a fantastic opportunity, and I'm sure has enhanced the AFP's relationship with Microsoft.  I am genuinely surprised and impressed at just how much the company invests in internet safety and security, and look forward to continue working closely with Microsoft and others in industry in this field.”
