In November 2008, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Julia Gillard announced a new scheme to attract Australia’s best graduates into teaching. Under the program, high performing graduates will be able to enter teaching through a new pathway that ensures the best are attracted into the profession. At the end of their time in schools, graduates will have the opportunity of taking up positions in the business sector.

In response to a question in Parliament (27th November 2008), the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned Microsoft Australia, among other companies, that would be involved in the new program. To read more concerning the new program click here
