Microsoft welcomes Australian Government’s ‘Cloud First’ Policy

Microsoft Australia welcomes the change in the Australian Government’s policy on cloud computing.

The new policy landscape commits the Government to actively consider cloud services, streamlines the approval process for cloud, while reinforcing the need for risk-based decision making and compliance with Government security requirements.

Cloud services provide Government with an amazing platform for innovation and service delivery.

This revised policy should enable greater adoption of cloud by agencies while appropriately safeguarding against risks.

Supporting Government to undertake this risk assessment has been the focus of our recent cloud assurance work and IRAP assessment.
