Closing the IT gap for Aboriginal businesses
Microsoft has partnered with Yarnteen and Social Ventures Australia to launch a new initiative called Microsoft RISE, helping close the technology skills gap in Aboriginal businesses. This project aims to increase the skill capacity of Aboriginal entrepreneurs through practical and tailor-made IT business training, mentoring and support. The ultimate goal of Microsoft RISE is to help develop sustainable businesses and social enterprises that create opportunities and jobs for Aboriginal people. Microsoft RISE launched in Redfern, Sydney last month. Microsoft RISE will be rolled out in four areas: Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. Earlier this year, Microsoft Australia also participated in The Indigenous Employment: Everyone's Business forum, organised to support Australian businesses in their efforts to close the gap on Indigenous employment outcomes. |
