Boosting Productivity – Key to Economic Recovery and Growth

Increased productivity has been responsible economic growth and welfare improvement in Australia's living standards over the last 25 years.

The Committee for Economic Development for Australia (CEDA) today (April 29) hosted a discussion on the topic of “Boosting Productivity”, which included Microsoft’s Tracey Fellows; Craig Thomson MP, Chair, House of Representative Economics Committee; and Don Brunker, Assistant Commissioner, Productivity Commission. The discussion was moderated by Michael Stutchbury, Economics Editor, The Australian.

The discussion revealed details of Australian Government’s Inquiry into raising the productivity growth rate in the Australian economy .

In her presentation, Tracey mentioned the role of information technology in improving and lifting productivity; the impact of the national broadband network as well as the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring all Australians have access to technology and the Internet to become productive citizens.
