In this session we will start with an overview of getting started with jQuery. Then we will look at AJAX support in Visual Studio 2010. Finally we will integrate jQuery with ASP.NET MVC actions to provide a powerful user experience.

The Natural User Interface (NUI) is the next revolution of human-computer interaction. Microsoft Surface has shown the potential of multi-touch NUIs to uniquely engage users, and multi-touch tablets and displays are becoming more and more common. In this presentation, Joshua will cover fundamental NUI and multi-touch concepts and discuss multi-touch development options with WPF 4 and Silverlight. You will learn about raw touch input and the manipulation API and see the differences between WPF and Silverlight multi-touch development. If you are interested in creating rich, engaging multi-touch interfaces for the web or client, then you won't want to miss this presentation!
Bio:
Joshua Blake is an integrator (developer-designer hybrid) with extensive experience developing Natural User Interfaces for Microsoft Surface and Windows 7. He is a Microsoft Surface MVP and is deeply involved in the Microsoft Surface and NUI communities. He maintains the InfoStrat.VE and Blake.NUI open source projects on CodePlex. Joshua maintains a blog “Deconstructing the NUI” at https://nui.joshland.org and is currently writing a Manning book Multitouch on Windows (https://manning.com/blake). Joshua is a senior consultant with InfoStrat in Washington, DC.

Have you ever needed to build a web site that lets users log on using their Facebook passwords? Have you ever needed to connect applications that are running inside different firewalls? Perhaps the applications are in different data centers within the same organization, or perhaps one end is in your customers' or suppliers' data centers. Perhaps you need a flexible identity management solution that lets you switch from Active Directory to Google IDs, Facebook Connect, or Live ID with no code changes. Maybe you even want to write a massively multiplayer game like World of Warcraft, but you don't want to create your own server infrastructure to support it. You can solve these problems using Windows Azure AppFabric. The solutions work even if your application is hosted in your own data center, and you never plan to run code in the cloud.
In this session, we'll build a web site that allows you to long on with your Facebook credentials. We'll also build a chat application that works through firewalls, and demo it running across multiple networks.

Background
The topic for the event consists of three parts on parallel computing: an overview of Microsoft’s parallel computing platform and programming tools and facilities, followed by NVidia’s discussion of GPU computing via Visual Studio, and MotionDSP’s discussion on GPU-based video processing capabilities.
Microsoft and Parallel Computing
An overview of the parallel programming tools and facilities available from Microsoft including our activities in the area of GPU computing. This will include an update on some interesting tools and trends we see in the ecosystem.
Parallel Nsight: GPU Computing via Visual Studio
A brief introduction to how Microsoft and NVIDIA are delivering the potential of GPU accelerated computing integrated in Visual Studio. Highlights will include video demos of the CUDA debugger and powerful Profiling tools.
GPU-based Video Processing
Recent proliferation of various video sources and the ease of digital distribution has resulted in an exponential rise in the amount of video data that needs to be processed, both during the mission (in real time), and post-mission (offline). Historically, custom application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) have been required for all demanding image processing tasks. Now, graphics processors (GPUs) provide orders of magnitude more computing power at a fraction of the cost. In this talk, you will hear how MotionDSP uses GPUs to provide previously-unattainable video processing capabilities to full motion video (FMV) applications. The talk will also include a demonstration of the Ikena software and will provide the details on the design and performance challenges of MotionDSP's video technology.
