03/02/2010 - 6:30 PM - Online / Live Meeting - Touch and Multi-Touch are quickly becoming a cool and efficient human-input interface concept. WPF 4 and Silverlight 3 have now provided some easy to use mechanisms to start building upon this. In this session we will be looking at what has been provided for us in these technologies that allow us to take advantage of this concept. We will look at code demo's that show how to do things like movement, resize and gestures. We will also see demo's on how we can think of and use some of these concepts to provide functionality outside of the obvious intent.

PGHDOTNET March Meeting - PGHDOTNET and Pgh ALT.NET Talk TDD and MVC

At this month's meeting we'll discuss not only the core ideas and concepts that make ALT.NET what it is, but we'll also discuss how you can apply some of these very same concepts to your own day to day development using frameworks like ASP.NET MVC. Some concepts we'll be discussing our Test-Driven Development, Inversion of Control, and the SOLID principles.
Scott Guthrie announced ASP.NET MVC to the world at the first ALT.NET Conference in October of 2007. Since then, this new framework has made impressive inroads into the mainstream .NET community. The flexibility inherent in this lightweight framework has made many of the ideas which first inspired the ALT.NET mindset achievable in every day .NET development.

Do you love shiny new toys? Well, Windows 7 has some nice surprises for you, then. There are many, many new features in Windows 7 for developers to discover, and in this session, we’ll talk about two that can be both fun and useful in your applications, multi-touch, and the Sensor and Location API.
Windows 7 has built-in support for multi-touch, and there are libraries available that make it easy to add multi-touch to your current applications. And the .NET Framework 4 provides improved support for multi-touch in managed code, making it easier than ever to add this feature to your applications.
The Sensor and Location API is new to Windows 7 and provides a consistent way for applications to interact with sensors such as accelerometers, light sensors, and other devices that use this API to communicate with Windows. No more learning inconsistent and obscure APIs for each new piece of hardware you wish to interact with.

Andrew Duthie, aka .net DEvHammer, is the Developer Evangelist for Microsoft’s Mid-Atlantic States district, where he provides support and education for developers working with the .net development platform. In addition to his work with Microsoft, Andrew is the author of several books on ASP.NET and web development, and has spoken at numerous industry conferences from VSLive! and ASP.NET Connections, to Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference (PDC) and Tech-Ed.

An Introduction to Report Builder 2.0
