Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals - SharePoint 2010
With the launch of SharePoint 2010, Microsoft moved forward considerably on the Completeness of Vision axis and forward on the Ability to Execute Axis to overtake IBM for the first time ever and move into the No. 1 position on Gartner’s 2010 Horizontal Portals Magic Quadrant. The report credits Microsoft for being the only large portal vendor with a bona fide cloud portal offering and a strong strategy for helping customers use and adopt it and for seeding the portal market for enormous growth with SharePoint 2010. The report also indicates that SharePoint 2010 promises numerous improvements over MOSS that better equip it as an enterprise portal framework and as a mechanism for creating composite applications, also that SharePoint is both comprehensive and built on a relatively consistent and unified architecture, unlike many of its primary competitors’ offerings.
