Updates to Outlook add-ins!

We are excited to make a number of announcements about Outlook add-ins platform. First, as we continue to execute on our mission to deliver a native and engaging experience with add-ins across all Outlook clients, just this month we started rolling out update to Outlook 2013 client, which includes support for add-in commands. Second, we’ve released yet another way to extend Outlook – by adding a custom module. Finally, we’ve added a few new APIs, including ability to launch a native dialog to help with authenticating users.

Sounds interesting. Where can I get more information about the ability to launch a native dialog to help with authenticating users?

Hi, do you plan to include any way for Mobile Outlook add-ins to react to events such as when the user presses the Send button? Many thanks.

Would really appreciate any feedback here as the current Add-in model without any events is very limited.

The only thing preventing us from leaving VSTO is the lack of support for events such as ItemSend and ItemAdd.

Hey Omar, I added links to the documentation for modules and dialogs to the blog. The update for 2013 to enable commands is rolling out via Windows Update.
