Overview of Error Codes When the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook Client Configuration Wizard Fails to Configure to the CRM Organization
We have recently released a number of KB articles which are discussing the different error codes when the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook Client Configuration Wizard fails to configure to the CRM organization. We have put together a summary of these articles with possible symptoms, cause and resolution below.

Error Code: 80044505
User error: “Generic Error Message”
Cause: This error occurs if the usernameendpoint in Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) is enabled. This will block the endpoints required by the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook client.
Resolution: Disable the usernameendpoint in Active Directory Federation Services.
1. Open the AD FS Management Console
2. In the left navigation pane, expand Service, and then click Endpoints.
3. In the endpoint list, locate and right-click the /adfs/services/trust/13/usernameendpoint
4. Select disable
Restart the AD FS service.
Error Code: 8004D294
User error: “There’s an update available for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.”
Cause: There's an update available for CRM for Outlook.
Resolution: Update your Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook client
Error Code: 80044502
User error: “You only have administrative or read-only access to your organization. To configure the organization with Outlook, you must have read-write access”
Cause: The Microsoft Dynamics CRM user's access-mode is not set to read-write (administrative or read-only). This is common if the user has been set as administrator only in Office 365
Resolution: In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM organization, set the option of the user to have their access-mode set to read-write.
Error Code: 80044503
User error: “We can't connect to your CRM server. Ensure that your date and time settings are ”
Cause: Your computer's date/time is out of sync with the server by more than 5 minutes
Resolution:
1. Exit the CRM Configuration Wizard.
2. Change the operating system date and time. To do this, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Manually change the operating system time
Method 2: Configure the operating system time to synchronize with an Internet time server
Method 3: Use a command to sync time with the domain if the computer is a member of a domain
Method 4: Force a synchronization of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) client if the computer uses an NTP client to sync with an NTP server

Error Code: 80044506
User error: “Communication was blocked, perhaps by your computer’s firewall settings, to a web service that is required by Microsoft Dynamics CRM.”
Cause: Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook was unable to communicate with the required services. This could be due to the client's machine blocking communication via proxy or proxy PAC file not allowing communication.

(407) Proxy Authentication Required Exception
Error Code: 80044311
User error: “Logon failed because credentials are invalid” or “Authentication failed”
Cause: This error occurs when the incorrect credentials are supplied
Resolution: Try again using the correct username and password. If this fails, try configuring with a different user that has access to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM organization.
Error Code: 80044500
User error: “You're running an outdated version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook that isn't compatible with your CRM organization”
Cause: This error when the user is running an outdated version of CRM for Outlook that is incompatible with the newer server version of Dynamics CRM.
Resolution: Upgrade to a version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook client that is compatible with your CRM Server version.
Error Code: 80044501
User error: “This version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook client isn't compatible with your company's version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server”
Cause: This error when the user is running a version of CRM for Outlook that is incompatible with the older server version of Dynamics CRM.
Resolution: Upgrade to a version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook client that is compatible with your CRM Server version.
