Dynamics CRM 2013 Save button disabled on CRM for tablet when create a new record

In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Fall ‘13 Service Update, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for tablets will use Quick Create forms when creating a new record if a quick create form is available.

You can opt not to use Quick Create form and use the main form instead for creating a new record on CRM for tablet. This can be done by unchecking the ‘Allow Quick Create’ option on the entity customization.

One rule on saving a newly created record is that you have to enter all required fields before the Save button to be enabled on tablet.

However, there is a scenario where the save button is still disabled although you have entered values in all required fields. The reason could be that there is some required field being hidden, or there is a required field which is locked so you are not allow to modify the value. Statecode is an example of the latter case.

If you put Statecode field (Status) which is a required field on the body of the form, you will not be able to enter the value because the field is locked. Therefore the save button stays disabled, resulting in unable to save the record.

The solution is to either remove the statecode field or move it to header or footer of the form.
