Symptoms

when using the Outlook Client for Dynamics CRM with Outlook 2003, the contents of the clipboard may be overwritten when opening a new or existing mail message.
This applies to all versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Cause

With Outlook 2003 (or earlier versions as supported by your version of Microsoft Danymics CRM) we use the CommandBar to add CRM specific Buttons. When running in the context of Outlook, we cannot directly draw buttons owned by CommandBars that run in the context of other processes.
If we set Outlook to use Word as mail editor, the email's CommandBar cannot be drawn without using the clipborad.
This is a limitation of Office 2003 and earlier and no longer present in Office 2007 or later.

Resolution

In Outlook under Tools - Options - Mail Format, choose not to use Word as email editor
