Mobile Client Software Factory CTP and Standalone Windows Mobile 5 +MSFP Emulator
Two interesting announcements for developers of mobile applications
I am happy to let you know about two new developments now publicly available to help developers build Windows Mobile 5 applications.
1. Our patterns and Practices group has released a new CTP (Community Technical Preview) for the Mobile Client Software Factory –an integrated set of guidance to help architects and developers create line-of-business Windows Mobile applications that interact with back-end systems over various networks (WiFi, GPRS, etc.) that might be intermittently available.
Available today for download in the MSDN Library:

2. A Standalone Release of Microsoft Device Emulator 1.0 RTM with Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP is now available
Have you wondered whether you can use the Microsoft Device Emulator standalone with Windows Mobile Images? Have you wanted to market the emulator to business decision makers who would just like to demo their applications on the emulator as they decide to invest in devices?
Device Emulator 1.0 (yes, the same one that released with Visual Studio 2005), is now available as a standalone download from: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C62D54A5-183A-4A1E-A7E2-CC500ED1F19A&displaylang=en
Thanks to great effort from the Windows Mobile team, this emulator release also comes with OS images for Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP, which you can download from the same location. Using this OS image will allow you to demonstrate and play with technologies like Direct Push. Better still, you can now include the emulator and OS images in your online training materials.
