Making fun of Linux
The latest post from Steve Job's fake blog makes me smile. It talks about the move to block Novell from selling Linux, which does not make any sense - I tought Linux was free and it was owned by the "community" and someone be banned from the community? Then the post goes to describe some of these member of the Linux community, which reminded me of a Bill Gates interview a bit over a year ago. Quote from the interview on News.com " There are some zealots that think there should be no software jobs, that we should all, like, cut hair during the day and write code at night. ". I don't know if those were Bill's actual words but the point is true. Note the emphasis on "some zealots" to avoid generalizations. I have a few friends in the Linux community who don't fit this and of course there are many professional developers who code and/or support Linx for other reasons. There are, however, others who see commercial software as the enemy. At the end, technology is about utility, the customer is right and the discussion should be about the right tool for the job.
