I have a slightly different problem, not solved by this finding. My emulator works fine at work (logged in to the domain). But when I take my laptop home, log in as myself (local admin, but not a domain account), the emulator fails to connect to any website or webservice. Then I make a VPN connection to work, and presto, all is back to normal again.Anonymous

David White, It sounds like maybe your laptop's Internet Explorer settings are configured to use a proxy, but that proxy is only reachable on the work network. Therefore, whenever the work network is available, things work, but when it isn't, they fail. As I understand it, the Windows Phone emulator will use the same proxy settings as the machine it's running on. So what you might do is check your Internet Explorer proxy settings (Tools menu, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN Settings) and maybe manually force the right settings for your home (probably no proxy) to see if that helps. FYI that you may need to restart the emulator after making this change. Hope this helps!
