Patterns and Practices Summit!

Nils van Boxsel (MS Architect Evangelist, Canberra) sent me a reminder that the Patterns and Practices Summit is on during February in Sydney, and that registrations are open now.

This looks like a good summit, with the keynote being delivered by Richard Helm, who was one of the Gang of Four who authored the seminal book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software; clearly the book that supported the early adoption and practice of pattern based software design and engineering.

However, if you’re like me, then getting a chance to hear from the Platform Architecture Group is going to be the best spend. This is the team that was and is responsible for most of the good oil that originates from the the Patterns and Practices site, and have been instrumental is creating and collecting a lot of the prescriptive guidance and reusable components that have been made available to .NET developers over the past few years.

So if you’ve got the training budget and the free days up your sleeve, and want to know more about PnP and where it’s heading, get along to this :)
