How businesses are using Web 2.0

The McKinsey Quarterly conducted a survey in January 2007 on "How businesses are using Web 2.0".

The respondents to the survey say that Web 2.0 technologies are strategic and that they plan to increase these investments. Web 2.0 is in this survey defined as Blogs, Collective intelligence, Mash-ups, Peer-to-peer networking (P2P), Podcasts, RSS (Really Simple Syndication), Social networking, Web services and Wikis.

The most frequently cited investments from these Web 2.0 technologies are Web services, Collective Intelligence and P2P. There's a great importance on technologies that enable automation and networking. Web 2.0 technologies are also often used to communicate with customers and business partners and to encourage collaboration inside the company.
