I can't find Ximage, OPK and WAIK
Since I posted the Automated Deployment Tools Quick Start guide I have been getting a steady stream of people who can't find Ximage in the Beta 1 build of the WDK. Unfortunately Ximage did not make it into the WDK for Beta 1. In Beta 1 you will find ASI in the ASI folder. For Beta 2 this folder will be renamed to "WDK Automated Deployment Tools." It will include both ASI and Ximage.
You don't have to wait until Beta 2 however! Beta 1 of the OEM Preinstall Kit (OPK) and the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) both include Ximage. Both are available to beta customers. The OPK is intended for OEMs and system builders. The WAIK is intended for corporate deployments. The OPK is a superset of the WAIK.
Also, you may have heard of the Windows Deployment Kit. That kit is now called the OPK. There was an obvious conflict with another Windows kit, the Windows Driver Kit.[:)]
