Hello! You should open a support case for these occurrences - using such large amounts of memory for updates is not normal. You can view our support options here: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=12632 Thanks!Anonymous

Is any possibility to make applying updates less memory consuming? I saw in task manager nearly 240Mb for MPSigStub working set got allocated on 2xXeon 3Ghz with 6Gb DDR2 memory and Windows 2008R2 x64 and FCS. It lasted 1-2 minutes. On old P3-800 laptop with 384Mb SDRAM memory and Windows XP SP3 with MSE 1.0 update process consumes nearly 160Mb and lasts 10-15 minutes.
