Home PCs and IR
I have been working on adding an IR remote control to my PC to control stuff. I want this as my monitor is bigger than my TV in my bedroom (sad i know) and would like to watch DVDs etc... on my home PC. So i got a remote control and an IR reciever and hooked it all up.
I found a great little free utility called Girder that allows you to take input from your IR device and automate what it does in Windows. I dont just mean 'launch an app' i mean fully automate stuff ... like complex, multi command automation that can use mouse, keyboard, Windows window message pump commands etc... Very powerful.
A must for any IR automation.

I bought a Tira from http://home-electro.com/ a couple months back.
That, along with Girder, is too cool. I could never go back. :)
Now I don't have to move from bed at night to switch off DScaler and turn off the monitor.Anonymous
