MDT 2010 Update 1 including User-Driven Installation Beta Released
Yesterday was a big highlight for my team. For the past 14 months, my direct team has worked very hard at building a rock-solid solution that enabled end-users to drive their own migration to Windows 7. This vision came true with the release of MDT 2010 Update 1 that now includes User-driven Installation, formally known as Modena. This solutions core has been used to deliver Windows 7 to thousands of customers within Microsoft but also externally to other customers and is now on-track to a fully supported toolset for delivery of Microsoft operating systems.
As outlined by Cameron King, a Program Manager on my team, this is a long-awaited release and one that many customers who have followed our team have been waiting for. Read more info on Cameron’s blog. You now have it!
To start using MDT 2010 Update 1 & UDI, do the following:
- Join MDT Microsoft Connect Program
- Download the BITS
- Learn more about MDT & UDI & ask questions on the MDT Forum
We highly encourage you to take action and start playing with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2010 Update 1 and give User-driven installation a whirl … and tell us what you think!
NOTE: Kudo’s to my team who built UDI from the ground up – Cameron King, Ben Shy, Michael Schmidt, Chris Barrett, Satya Undamati, and Susan Foley (legacy folks include Brian Wishan & Tim Skudlarick)
Enjoy!
Thanks,
-Chris
