Hi, I was eager to test VMM 2008 so downloaded and installed the RTM release on my Server 2008 Enterprise system but when attempting to add the one and only host I had I got the following error: Error (2912) An internal error has occurred trying to contact an agent on the S2008.greytag.net server. (Unknown error (0x80041013)) Recommended Action Ensure the agent is installed and running. Ensure the WS-Management service is installed and running, then restart the agent. After doing some research online and trying a number of different approaches I thought the best thing would be to try a clean install so I did the following: 1 - Performed a clean install of Server 2008 Enterprise 2 - Installed the Active Directory Domain Services Role & then ran dcpromo to create a test domain 3 - Installed all updates from Microsoft Update - including KB950050 - the Hyper-V RTM install. 4 - Installed the Hyper-V Role - I can theb use Hyper-V manager to create and use VMs as normal 5 - Ran SCVMM 2008 RTM & installed VMM Server then VMM Administrator Console (so everything is running locally on the 1 machine) 6 - Started VMM Admin console & selected Add Host

  • Entered the domain admin credentials
  • Searched for the host which is found whithout issue & then added it to the Selected Computers List
  • Selected the default All Hosts group
  • Did not enter a default path
  • Selected the Add Hosts button After approx 30 seconds VMM then reports the error. 7 - I followed the instructions in your post: blogs.technet.com/.../how-to-collect-scvmm-traces.aspx to create the trace log and can email this to you if you wish. Any help would be appreciated. Francis

I am getting precisely the same problem, however I've looked through the DebugView file and can't see much of interest. If you would like me to e-mail you the log file, where should I send it? Thanks! Tristan
