Visual Studio 2012 and Team Foundation Server 2012 pre-releases expiring Jan 15

Happy New Year! As you settle back into your work environments, please remember to see if you are running any pre-release versions of Visual Studio 2012 or Team Foundation Server 2012. This software will stop working on January 15, 2013 and cannot be extended.

You can check your Visual Studio 2012 development environment by clicking on Help –> About and inspecting the version. If you see Beta or Release Candidate (RC) you’ll need to upgrade to RTM (or Update 1, which is the newest post-RTM release).

For Team Foundation Server, launch the Team Foundation Server Administration Console.

Thanks Brian, I've been postponing this upgrade in my environment  since the release of the RTM. Checking the interwebs it seems that there's no upgrade path and it's necessary to uninstall and re install,  is that the case?, from your post you mention a Update 1 release, do you mean there is installation media available with the Update 1 already on it? Thanks again for this post and for everything you do for the MS ALM community.

Hi David, I talked to the setup & administration team and they said that in most cases you should be able to go straight from RC to Update 1. There are a few places where setup may block you from upgrading due to some edge cases. If that happens, please email Ed Holloway (tfcare AT Microsoft DOT com) and he will help you take a look at what might be happening. Yes, you will find TFS 2012 Update 1 on MSDN Subscriber Downloads. Also check out the blog post that one of our MVPs did detailing his experience upgrading to Update 1. It's not official Microsoft documentation but I read over it and Martin did a nice job with it: blog.hinshelwood.com/upgrading-to-team-foundation-server-2012-update-1-in-production-done Good luck with the upgrade!
