patterns & practices is hiring!

I have an opening on the patterns & practices team for a developer.

patterns & practices works towards helping those developing on the Microsoft platforms more successful.  We produce books, reference implements, and libraries that help people in developing web, client, and mobile applications.  You can find out more what p&p does and how we do on our dev center.

p&p Team RoomAs a p&p developer you will have the opportunity to work on a number of projects throughout the year.  Our projects run between two and six months in length and focus on the latest Microsoft (and related) technology stacks:  ASP.Net MVC, HTML5, Javascript, Azure, Windows 8, Windows Phone 7, and WPF.  You will work with other talented developers, program managers, testers, and writers in an agile process to help customers better understand how to solve specific challenges and help communicate those solutions.

You will get opportunities to meet and talk with customers most weeks, as well as presenting at our yearly p&p symposium and other conferences.  Developers also typically blog, deliver podcasts, and engage in discussions with our customers on our Codeplex forums.

If you were at p&p this year you could have worked on:

Building modern mobile web apps – Building great mobile experiences based on device capabilities and feature detection.

Wasabi and Topaz – Enterprise Library 5.0 Integration Pack for Windows Azure – Creating highly resilient and scalable Windows Azure applications with auto-scaling and transient fault handling.

For anyone interested ... I spent 6 years working in p&p as a Product Manager, Program Manager, and they even let me write some code from time to time. I can't say enough good things about p&p, and Mr. Brumfield. It's an awesome place to work if you prefer agile practices and they have some of the smartest and most talented developers I've ever met having a profound impact on the Microsoft Dev community. You should also know that Bob is a really balanced and fair human being - I REALLY liked working with him (and he's a pretty sharp dude too, but don't tell him I said so ;)Sorry if this sounds solicited (it's not), I just really love p&p and the people who work there. If you're mean, self-centered, or don't like working on teams, you probably won't fit it. But if you're humble, witty, and uncomfortable writing code without unit tests, you might fit in nicely :)Cheers
