Quickly identify vulnerable students and improve educational outcomes with Analytikus
Analytikus is a data science startup developing solutions that are designed to maximize the chances of student success in higher education. The company’s newest application, Student Attrition, harnesses the power of machine learning and advanced analytics to provide attrition risk scores for every student – helping institutions quickly identify at-risk individuals and undertake preemptive measures aimed at maximizing individual academic strengths. With Student Attrition, educators can integrate academic and operational data (grades, payment information, library usage, etc.) with non-traditional data (social media, video) to correlate the probability of each student’s future academic success. This can even be performed prior to the student entering the university and allows educators to pre-determine which individuals may require additional staff engagement, ensuring the institution can help vulnerable students maintain enrollment.
“Each semester, on average, universities can expect between 10% and 20% of their students to discontinue their education or drop out,” says Analytikus Founder Miguel Molina Cosculluela, “Our solution is designed to automatize the process of identifying high risk students (students most likely to drop out) in order to ensure that every student can realize their potential. Plus, universities can improve their educational outcomes, including student retention, graduation rates, and post-graduation job placements.”
Analytikus relies on Microsoft technologies, primarily the Azure stack and the Cortana Intelligence Suite, to power their Student Attrition solution. The Cortana platform is used for its predictive algorithms that simplify and automate the solution’s analytics capabilities, while Power BI is leveraged to convert data analytics into interactive reports. Student Attrition also uses SQL Data Warehouse for fast provisioning and scaling, and Azure Event Hub to digest a heavy volume of data, from a variety of sources, in real-time.
