Offline Folder Synchronization Fails

We have come across a couple of cases where Vista/ XP Pro installed on Toshiba R500 laptops doesn't synchronize offline folders. The issues is certainly not specific to Toshiba, however, it seems to be because of a software that comes pre installed with it: TrueSuite File Protection and/or TrueSuite Access Manager. Similarly we have not heard or seen of issues with TrueSuite installed on any other laptop. However a combination of the two seems to cause problems.

ISSUE: You will find the following error while trying to synchronize offline folders:

An internal error has occurred.

RESOLUTION:

If you uninstall the TrueSuite File Protection the issue would be resolved.
* We have seen that simply disabling the software does not help.

A netmon trace taken during the synchronization of offline files shows the server responding with:

Smb: R; Nt Transact, Unknown NT Transaction Function - NT Status: System - Error, Code = (16) STATUS_INVALID_DEVICE_REQUEST
Protocol: SMB
Command: Nt Transact 160(0xA0)

NTStatus: 0xC0000010, Facility = FACILITY_SYSTEM, Severity = STATUS_SEVERITY_ERROR, Code = (16)

Process monitor show the following information:

You will find the following files installed on your computer.

C:\Program Files\TrueSuite Access Manager\FpNotifier.exe

C:\Program Files\TrueSuite Access Manager\usbnotify.exe

C:\Program Files\TrueSuite Access Manager\CssSvr.exe

C:\Program Files\TrueSuite Access Manager\PwdBank.exe

C:\Program Files\TrueSuite Access Manager\Drivers\ATSwpDrv.sys

Try disabling the software and see if it helps. If not then uninstall it and try again. In both the case that we came across, uninstalling the software helped.
