L'API plug-in del controllo del codice sorgente limita le lunghezze delle stringhe usate in varie funzioni.

La lunghezza non include l'oggetto di terminazione null. Altre costanti con suffisso "_SIZE" anziché "_LEN" includono lo spazio per la terminazione nulldi .
