Running TS Licensing Manager

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

The TS Licensing Manager tool in Windows Server 2008 is automatically installed on any computer on which the TS Licensing role service has been installed. If you want to manage your license servers from a remote computer running Windows Server 2008, you can install TS Licensing Manager on that computer by using the following procedure.

Note

TS Licensing Manager is not a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To install TS Licensing Manager by using Server Manager

  1. Open Server Manager. To open Server Manager, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.

  2. In the left pane, right-click Features, and then click Add Features.

  3. On the Select Features page, expand Remote Server Administration Tools, expand Role Administration Tools, and then expand Terminal Services.

  4. Select the TS Licensing Manager check box, and then click Next.

  5. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click Install.

  6. On the Installation Progress page, installation progress will be noted.

  7. On the Installation Results page, confirm that installation of TS Licensing Manager succeeded, and then click Close.

You can run TS Licensing Manager from either of the following locations:

  • Start menu

  • Server Manager

Note

TS Licensing Manager is available in Server Manager only if the Terminal Services role is installed on the computer.

To run TS Licensing Manager from the Start menu

  • Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to Terminal Services, and then click TS Licensing Manager.

  • Click Start, click Run, type licmgr.exe, and then press ENTER.

To run TS Licensing Manager from Server Manager

  1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager.

  2. Under Roles Summary, click Terminal Services.

  3. Under Advanced Tools, click TS Licensing Manager.
