Important

Authorization Manager is available for use in the following versions of Windows: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. It is deprecated as of Windows Server 2012 R2 and may be removed in subsequent versions.

 The following table describes the UI elements for this dialog box.

Authorization rules

Allows you to specify the behavior of authorization rules defined in this store.

You can choose to disable all authorization rules. If rules are enabled, you can specify a timeout value to limit the amount of time the system will wait for an authorization rule script to complete. The following settings are available:

  • Disable

  • Enable with no timeout value

  • Enable with specified timeout value

Authorization rule timeout

Specifies the authorization rule time-out, and provides a space for you to type the authorization rule time-out.

The value is specified in milliseconds. The value can range from 5000 to 2147483647. The default value of 45000 milliseconds (45 seconds) or less is recommended.

Note
If you set the Authorization rule timeout to 0, Authorization Manager will not use any Authorization rules.

Maximum number of cached authorization rules

Specifies the maximum number of cached authorization rules, and provides a space for you to type the maximum number of cached authorization rules. The value can range from 0 to 2147483647. The default value of 120 is recommended.

LDAP query timeout

Specifies the LDAP query time-out, and provides a space for you to type the LDAP query time-out. The value is specified in milliseconds. The value can range from 500 to 2147483647. The default value of 15000 milliseconds (15 seconds) is recommended.

Use Default values

Sets the LDAP query time-out, the authorization rule time-out, and the maximum number of cached authorization rules to their default values.
