Notes

  • If the telephony server is not enabled, performing this task does not require administrative credentials. Any user who logs on to the telephony server can view the status of the lines and phones for each telephony service provider on the server. In addition, that user can view the names of all users who are assigned to lines or phones on the server.

  • If the telephony server is enabled, to view the status of lines or phones for each telephony service provider on the server you must log on to the telephony server as one of the following:

    • A member of the local Administrators group on the telephony server. (If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure.) For more information, see Default local groups and Default groups.

    • A telephony administrator. (For more information about designating telephony administrators, see Related Topics.)

    • A user who is assigned to a line or phone on the telephony server.

Members of the local Administrators group on the telephony server and telephony administrators can view the names of all users who are assigned to lines or phones on the server. However, a user who is assigned to a line or phone on the server cannot view the names of other users who are assigned to lines or phones on the server. For information about enabling a telephony server, see Related Topics.

  • To open Telephony, click Start, click Run, and then type tapimgmt.msc.
