How to Change the Catalog Options of a Business Data Project

This topic provides steps for changing the catalog options of a business data project in Commerce Server staging. You can change how the full-text index of a catalog is staged; full, incremental, or not at all, and whether you want to refresh the catalogs cache after the deployment finishes.

To change the catalog options of a business data project

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 , and the click Commerce Server Staging.

  2. In Microsoft Management Console (MMC), in the left pane, expand Commerce Server Staging, expand <server name>, and then click Projects.

  3. In the right pane, right-click the project that you want to change, and then click Properties.

  4. In the Project Properties dialog box, on the Catalog tab, do the following:

    SelectAll

    Click to select all catalog items in the list.

    DeselectAll

    Click to clear the selection of all catalog items in the list.

    Generate Full Text Indexes

    Select this option to stage the full-text index of a catalog.

    Stage Catalog Sets

    Select this option to stage all catalog sets.

    Refresh Cache

    Select this option to update the catalogs cache on the destination server after the deployment finishes. Clear this option if you want to manually update the cache, or if you have configured post-deployment scripts to update the cache.

  5. Click Catalog Staging Options.

  6. In the Catalog Staging Options dialog box, do the following:

    Stage Virtual Catalogs as Virtual Catalogs

    Select this option to stage virtual catalogs. Virtual catalogs are catalogs that reference products in one or more base catalogs. A product exists as a single instance in the database, regardless of how many virtual catalogs reference the product.

    Stage Dependent Catalogs

    Select this option to stage the base catalogs that virtual catalogs reference.

    Properties to Stage

    Select the specific catalog properties that you want to stage.

    SelectAll

    Click to select all catalog properties in the list.

    DeselectAll

    Click to clear the selection of all catalog properties in the list.

    Languages to Stage

    Select the catalog language from the drop-down list.

  7. In the Catalog Staging Mode section, do the following:

    Use this

    To do this

    Full

    Select this option to stage the whole catalog.

    Incremental

    Select this option to only stage changed catalog data.

    Expressional

    Select this option to customize the parts of the catalog to be staged. If you select this option, you must click Export Expressions to define the catalog export expressions.

    Export Expressions

    Select this option to build an expression that defines the parts of the catalog that you want to export.

    Transactional

    Select this option to enable rollback for the selected catalog. You can only roll back this catalog data if an error occurs during project staging.

    Stage Schema

    Select this option to stage the catalog schema.

  8. In the Catalog Staging Options dialog box, click Export Expressions.

  9. In the Catalog Export Staging Expressions dialog box, the Export Descendants section lets you select which descendants of the products and categories you want to stage. In this section, do the following:

    Use this

    None

    Select this option so that no descendants are staged. The Filter Descendants Clause is ignored.

    Immediate Children

    Select this option so that immediate children of the catalog items selected by the Product and Categories Clause that satisfy the Filter Descendants Clause are staged.

    All Levels

    Select this option so that descendants in all levels, not only the immediate children, of the catalog items selected by the Product and Categories Clause that satisfy the Filter Descendants Clause are staged.

  10. In the Catalog Export Staging Expressions dialog box, do the following:

    Use this

    To do this

    Products and Categories Clause

    Create an SQL clause that specifies the products and categories that you want to stage.

    Filter Descendants Clause

    Create an SQL clause that specifies which descendants of the items specified by the Products and Categories Clause that you want to stage.

  11. In the Catalog Export Staging Expressions dialog box, click OK.

  12. In the Catalog Staging Options dialog box, click OK.

  13. In the Project Properties dialog box, click OK.
