This one is very, very old school. Did you know you can close the current document window from the keyboard? You can! Just make sure you are in the document you want to close:
Then press CTRL + F4. That's it! The current document will close and it will prompt you to save changes if you haven't already.

I've got a mouse button bound to Ctrl-F4. Very handy for quickly dismissing things. (Works for browser tabs and documents/windows in just about everything, not just VS.) (Ofc. it backfires every so often. Earlier I picked up my mouse by the Ctrl-F4 button and closed something I didn't want to. :) )Anonymous

You guys rock. This is the best thing yet! Super Useful. I hate grabbing my mouse to close a window. Leo, great idea using it mapped to a mouse button.
