Gamer Spotlight: theBruce
He’s been around since the days of the Xbox LIVE beta and has his hands in all sorts of gaming communities. Meet theBruce .
KP: What's the story behind your gamertag?
theBruce: Many years ago some friends of mine said I looked like a Bruce. So they called me Bruce. And so it began. There's also the many Bruce's of Monty Python fame, and Robert the Bruce from Braveheart, a favourite film of mine.
KP: I noticed you spelled favorite wrong. Where do you live?
theBruce: Representing Kitchener, southwestern Ontario, Canada.
KP: What do you do when you're not playing games?
theBruce: Playing alternate reality games. Watching movies and TV, taking pictures, playing guitar and volleyball (not simultaneously), blogging at Wikibruce and 4DFiction, geocaching…
KP: Full plate. What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?
theBruce: Thankfully, I've never really had a notably bad or weird employment.
KP: How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?
theBruce: I was an early adopter, a beta tester back in the early days of Xbox.
KP: We have great hands. Do you have an archenemy on Xbox LIVE?
theBruce: Not that I know of!
KP: What's your Xbox setup like? Big-screen TV? Dolby sound?
theBruce: 52" Plasma HDTV, DD/DTS receiver with 5.0 surround (no subwoofer unfortunately).
KP: Fortunate for the neighbors. What's the best feature of Xbox LIVE?
theBruce: The Marketplace as a home-based entertainment hub is a very big benefit. I most regularly download game trailers and arcade games though.
KP: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?
theBruce: I am very much a bottom rung in multiplayer skill, so I rarely play online. But I'd have to say (with a tear in my eye), Halo 2 - for the memories of playing with fellow "beekeepers" after the I Love Bees ARG ended.
KP: What is your favorite single player Xbox game?
theBruce: This will be a common topic from me, but: Halo :)
KP: What is your favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade game?
theBruce: Hard to narrow down with so many genres, but for most inspirational in artistry and story I'd have to say Braid.
KP: No worries, you can turn back time and change that answer if you want. What do you think is the best game of all time?
theBruce: Halo (the franchise)
KP: Obvi. What do you think is the best film of all time?
theBruce: Again, with so many genres, it's hard to narrow down. I'd have to include Lord of the Rings, Mirrormask, Equilibrium, and Airplane! :)
KP: What do you think is the best comic book of all time?
theBruce: Iron Man. I had a brief love affair with the series years ago when I was still collecting.
KP: What do you think is the best album of all time?
theBruce: More tough calls. This one would include Eagles - Hotel California, Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet, and the Halo OSTs :)
KP: Rock Band or Guitar Hero?
theBruce: Rock Band! I actually only recently got addicted. Drums all the way.
KP: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?
theBruce: Wheeeeeeeeee!
[View:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aarEo5GRpPk]
KP: Which brings me to my next point: don’t do drugs. What's your favorite TV show?
theBruce: Tough. Very tough. The Office and Flashpoint have to take the cake currently.
KP: Who is your inner rock star?
theBruce: U2. All of'em.
KP: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?
theBruce: He's not really real, but Jim Halpert.
KP: *stares at camera* What's your karaoke song?
theBruce: Hmm… Maybe, KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree."
KP: Favorite cartoon character?
theBruce: Inspector Gadget!
KP: Go go gadget movie quote!
theBruce: “Freeeeeeeeeeedooooooooooooooom!!”
KP: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
theBruce: Jim Halpert ;)
KP: *smirks at camera* What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
theBruce: Donald Trump.
KP: How many people are on your Friends List?
theBruce: 97
KP: Who's your favorite superhero?
theBruce: Iron Man.
KP: Hot celeb you'd like to be stranded on a desert island with?
theBruce: Kristen Bell! All the way!
KP: If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
theBruce: That silhouette guy from LIMBO. He spun the world, fought spider legs, and rescued the girl.
KP: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?
theBruce: Olives.
KP: Then you must’ve been pleasantly surprised the first time you ate at the Olive Garden. What's the first video game you ever played?
theBruce: That I remember, only vaguely, Cashman on the TRS-80 CoCo!
KP: What's the last book you read?
theBruce: Halo Encyclopedia. That counts, right?
KP: Vaguely. Complete this sentence: "People of Earth, ...:
theBruce: " …wake up, already!"
KP: If you could go on tour with any band --past or present-- which would it be?
theBruce: U2.
KP: Most awesome place you've ever been?
theBruce: The peak of Sulphur Mountain, in Banff, Alberta.
KP: Most awesome place you haven't been yet?
theBruce: The ISS.
KP: What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?
theBruce: Robot zombies.
KP: What do you think is the best thing about Xbox 360?
theBruce: Halo.
KP: What would you like to be doing in ten years?
theBruce: Designing universes in which games can be played, stories be told, art created, experiences remembered, inspiration gained, lives changed. And/or raising a family.

Hey all, finally getting to some feedback.. @ml: seems like it :) it was more work keeping answers short and concise though, heh @shadowelf54: Umm... yes, all. That should be clear :P And remember, I'm not as much as a game-enthusiast as a story-enthusiast. It's the Halo franchise I love, not necessarily any game over another. @GiantPinkPanda: Really? Going to a Halo: Reach midnight launch? I'll be at the Gamestop at Conestoga Mall. @payroll: You disagree about my obsession? Ok, I disagree about your disagreeing. It is what it is ;) Other franchises have great potential, never said otherwise, but for me Halo is the juggernaut. @all_others: Thanks for all the spam, insults, pictures, taunting, and.. well, it's entertaining for the most part seeing that inbox count keep clicking away. :P Check out http://halo.wikibruce.com for more ARG/viral Halo franchise info And check out my video coverage of the UNSC Control Point Defense community promo event in Toronto from Sept 4th at www.youtube.com/watch See y'all in Reach!
